The smart home market was once growing very fast but now it has cooled down a bit. Now many companies have pulled their hands back from smart homes. Now Google’s name has also been included in this list. Google has now announced the closure of its two-year-old security system.
Google has said that from April 8, 2024, it will stop supporting its two security devices. The first device is Dropcam which was launched in 2012 and the second device is Google Nest which was introduced in 2014.
The Nest Secure home security system will also be discontinued in April 2024. Google is also going to shut down its Works with Nest software platform. This platform was introduced in 2019. All smart home platforms connected to this platform will stop getting support from 29 September 2023.

Both these devices were never migrated from the old Nest app to the new Google Home app. By the way, Google has said that those who are still using Dropcam will be given free of cost as Nest Cam replacement.
